Every Choreographer gets into the drama of the dance. Some teach through the choreography and a refined school hires those trained/gifted in Acting for specialty classes, etc. In more developed churches Drama Ministries thrive and specialize in dramatic dances that express concepts and Truths of God's Word. This is not the same as Liturgical Dancing, and yes I have had the opportunity to participate in Drama Ministry. For me, the skills practiced were those pertinent to the drama skills necessary and in grade school was selected for Forensics Competition team. Dramatically expressing excerpts from books and being judged accordingly.
It is to the detriment of a studio if these roles are not well defined and explicitly defined for students, parents, the public.
May the Lord lead as this too is part of International Dance Commission's scope.
Please Note
This is not youth ministry that does Drama, this is an official Drama Ministry that uses any age ~ truly focusing on the dramatics and expression that is above and beyond, although useful, in dance. It is useful in dance, it is necessary; but you don't have to dance....

Locally, Rinat Mouzafarov, the Russian Instructor always speaks about "passion," and for us through ministry, it is Dramatic Arts, Drama Ministry, etc. ~ I place this here for those who may have "Russian" instructors who may not understand a more gospel focused use of the dance! ...this is also for those that might misinterpret the word "passion" to mean some Pas de Deux term, when it is "emotion," "expression" and the face conveying meaning! †
See Excellent Technique Video here showing absence of what is discussed below as "passion" which can be referenced here as "dramatic expression, drama, the dramatic arts" and comments from YouTube explaining two different perspectives of helping dancers develop this } http://intldancecommission.ning.com/video/ballet-techniquescontrol
